Capturing pain - starting with lower back pain
Thinking about pain together
When I compare myself as an elementary school student to myself as an adult, the stiffness of my body is immediately obvious. I can now picture myself doing the stretching exercises I was able to do without thinking back then, but now I can only imagine myself letting the force of the voice say "Yo!" as I forcefully stretch, my face bright red.
When I listen to patients with lower back pain, I often hear them say, "My body is stiff..." This is understandable.painI'm going to think about it.
pain and stiffness
Have the patient with lower back pain bend forward.

When bending forward, there is a point where you suddenly feel "Ouch!" This can also be seen as stopping because it hurts. If that movement didn't hurt, I think your fingertips would be able to touch the floor.
It is empirical that people with lower back pain are more susceptible to pain.
Just as some people find the same spicy curry spicy while others do not, our senses have a "threshold (borderline)."
It is thought that people with lower back pain have a low pain threshold (meaning they are sensitive to pain).
- Does it hurt because it's hard?
- Is it hard because it hurts?
- Are you naturally sensitive to pain?
I find myself thinking about things like that.
Pain and fear
When we feel pain, we feel fear. It is said that fear lowers the pain threshold. When we become more sensitive to pain, our muscles become even stiffer. When they become stiffer, our fear becomes even stronger. If this is repeated,"A vicious cycle of fear"This leads to the following situation.
I remember going to a haunted house with friends when I was little.
I was so tense that I couldn't even yawn, and my skin was covered in goosebumps.
"What's around the corner here?"
While you are thinking, "Maybe I'll be attacked from behind too!?"
My friend said, "Hey, hey..." I overreacted even if he just touched my back a little.
Considering that pain is controlled by sensory nerves, it can be said that there is a deep connection with fear.
Pain and stress
There is data that shows that serious people are more likely to suffer from back pain. I think this is because they take stress seriously and have no way to release it, which leads to back pain becoming stiff.
This may sound like something out of a comic book, but I have the impression that frivolous people are weak. To put it in a positive way, they have the ability to let go of stress.
Pain and movement
You stretch because your body is stiff, to loosen up your muscles. However, you are sensitive to pain and are unable to stretch. And then your muscles get stiffer... This is a dead end.
For example, when bending forward, let's say your fingertips don't reach the floor. In this case, the current situation is that it cannot be solved by simply saying, "Let's do this!" There are two points to look at when using forward bending as an example.
①First, there is the pattern where the back of the thigh is hard and the fingertips cannot touch it.
(⇒Are your knees bent?)

②Another pattern is one where the waist is not curved like a shrimp.
(⇒Is your waist straight?)

In this way, it is important to understand which parts are moving excessively and which parts are moving poorly, causing pain and restricted movement.
Understanding the patient and dealing with pain from an acupuncturist's perspective
What we are examiningPatientThere is "pain" in that.
Why does it hurt? What is the cause?
The items on the initial medical questionnaire you fill out are also meaningful. They start with your age, medical history, what situations cause pain, and whether you have constipation.
We will organize all the information we receive and address any physical problems you may have.
Not just for acupuncturists, but when you think of therapists as a whole, there is a "warmth" that machines and equipment do not have.
As symbolized by the saying, "Go away, pain, pain!", I grew up being freed from physical and mental tension through "treatment."
This is a bit of a digression, but even sand art has been automated these days, but I still believe it can't compare to the meticulous touch and delicate craftsmanship that only an artist can achieve.
In "hands-on treatment," acupuncturists gather and organize information from the patient's hands. They work with the patient to determine where tension is occurring and what is causing the discomfort. There are various acupuncture techniques, but we members of the Seido Association...Seido AcupunctureThere is a weapon called

Our lives have become more convenient, and as a result of our dependency on them, various illnesses have been featured in the media. These include "smartphone neck," "slouching," and "straight neck."
