My right elbow hurts when I put on socks and when I wring out a rag.
symptom
A woman in her 40s. She began experiencing pain on the inside of her right elbow three months ago. The pain occurred when putting on socks or wringing out a rag. There was no pain when she was at rest, but it would appear when she suddenly performed an action she had forgotten about. In her daily life, it took her a long time to put on socks, and she was unable to wring out a rag properly due to the pain. She visited an orthopedic clinic and underwent an X-ray, but no abnormalities were found, and she was prescribed pain patches. On the initial examination, tenderness was found in the medial epicondyle. The pain gradually appeared three months ago when she started practicing yoga, which involves repeatedly getting on all fours and supporting her body with her elbow extended.

Treatment and progress
During the initial consultation, the patient's movements that triggered pain were identified, and acupuncture was performed on points in the scapula and arm related to elbow pain. After the treatment, the patient's pain was checked by wringing out a towel, and it had disappeared. Furthermore, the pain did not reappear when supporting the body while on all fours, so it was decided to monitor the situation. The patient usually contacts us when experiencing physical discomfort, but since no follow-up appointment has been scheduled more than a month after the initial treatment, it is judged that the symptoms have improved.
Acupressure points used
Summary
Acupuncture was performed on points in the scapula and arm related to the elbow for pain on the inside of the right elbow that gradually developed from repeating specific movements in yoga. After the first treatment, the pain disappeared when wringing out a towel or supporting the body in a quadruped position, and since no follow-up appointment was made more than a month later, it is considered that the symptoms have improved. This is a case in which treatment of not only the local area but also related areas was effective for elbow pain. In the future, it is desirable to modify movements that take into consideration the strain on the elbow when continuing yoga.
