A month ago, I experienced rotational vertigo, stiffness in my neck and face, and a headache. The symptoms improved once, but then the unpleasant sensations returned. I particularly complained of a dizzy feeling on the left side and an unpleasant feeling behind both ears. I also had some tinnitus. There was no clear change in the severity of the symptoms, but the anxiety that the vertigo might return was affecting my daily life. A medical institution suggested a blood flow problem, but no particular abnormalities were found.

During the initial physical examination, stiffness behind the ears and tension in the neck and shoulders were observed. Acupuncture was performed on points in the hands, neck, and back. After the first treatment, the neck and shoulder stiffness eased, and the forward and backward flexion of the neck became smoother. In the second treatment, the focus was on the lingering teeth grinding at night and fatigue behind the ears. With each subsequent treatment, the dizziness disappeared. After two treatments, the symptoms improved significantly, and no recurrence of symptoms or the appearance of new symptoms was observed during the treatment period.

In a case involving a patient with a history of rotational vertigo and stiffness around the left side of the mouth, who complained of lightheadedness and discomfort behind the ear, acupuncture treatment focusing on stiffness behind the ear and tension in the neck and shoulders was performed. Treatment of acupoints in the hands, neck, and back improved neck and shoulder stiffness and increased neck range of motion. The second treatment addressed nighttime teeth grinding and fatigue behind the ear, and after two treatments, the lightheadedness disappeared. Anxiety about the recurrence of vertigo also decreased, and the symptoms improved significantly. It is believed that the relaxation of neck and shoulder tension contributed to the improvement of the vertigo symptoms.
