Treatment and progress
Assuming that heat was trapped in the nose, acupuncture was performed on acupoints that reduce heat in the nose and head. Moxibustion was also applied to acupoints in the neck to ease breathing. After the first treatment, the patient was informed that they might experience increased nasal discharge. This was because accumulated mucus was being released, and a temporary increase in nasal discharge was expected. When the patient came in for a maintenance visit one month later, they reported that their symptoms had improved immediately after the previous treatment.
