The main complaint is pain in the right shoulder. A week ago, while using a massage machine at a hot spring facility, the patient's arm was caught, causing severe pain. Since then, the range of motion in the right shoulder has been restricted, and pain has become particularly noticeable when lifting the arm to the side. The pain is a throbbing pain centered on the deltoid muscle and is more pronounced during movement. In daily life, dressing and undressing has become difficult, and the pain is especially severe when wearing long sleeves. The patient has not received any diagnosis or treatment at a medical institution, and there is no numbness or other physical discomfort associated with the shoulder pain.

Treatment and progress
During the initial examination, palpation revealed tension throughout the shoulder joint, particularly in the deltoid muscle. Shoulder elevation was limited to 170 degrees, and lateral elevation to 90 degrees. The goal was to improve these ranges of motion. The treatment involved acupuncture on points in the lumbar region, which is the axis of the shoulder joint, and on points in the hands and feet related to shoulder movement. After the first treatment, the range of motion of the shoulder recovered, and the patient was pleased to experience reduced pain and improved movement. There were no reports of symptom recurrence or new symptoms thereafter, and the treatment was completed in one session.
