The patient experienced dizziness, particularly when lying down, especially when turning to the lower left. This symptom persisted after a suspected diagnosis of sudden hearing loss a year prior. Although hearing was now normal, the dizziness continued. Additionally, there was severe stiffness in the left side of the neck and shoulder, which was considered a possible contributing factor to the dizziness. In daily life, lying down caused discomfort, making it difficult to relax.

Treatment and progress
Upon initial examination, significant tension was found in the left neck and shoulder. The treatment began with acupuncture on points in the back to loosen the entire neck, followed by acupuncture on areas closely related to the neck and shoulder discomfort. After the first treatment, the neck and shoulder stiffness eased, and the symptoms improved. After the second treatment, the neck and shoulder condition further improved, but dizziness persisted. After the third treatment, the frequency of dizziness decreased, and after the fourth treatment, the patient reported experiencing almost no dizziness. There were no relapses of symptoms or the appearance of new symptoms during the treatment period.

Summary
In this case, we considered that stiffness in the left neck and shoulder was likely contributing to the dizziness, so we focused on treatments to alleviate the tension in the neck and shoulder. With each treatment, the stiffness in the neck and shoulder improved, and consequently, the frequency of dizziness decreased. Ultimately, after four treatments, the patient's dizziness improved to the point where it was almost completely gone. It is believed that acupuncture on points in the back and neck and shoulder was effective in improving the symptoms. In the future, for similar symptoms, we can expect to see improvement by prioritizing treatments that alleviate tension in the neck and shoulder.
