Ankle pain during gymnastics practice
symptom
Pain started in the area around the ankle bone of my right ankle about a month ago. I believe the pain was triggered by jumping practice. The pain comes and goes irregularly, and worsens when I move my ankle while sitting with my legs extended or when I squat. There is no numbness. I am unable to practice gymnastics, and it is affecting me. No abnormalities were found in MRI, X-ray, or ultrasound examinations.
I had similar symptoms three years ago.

Treatment and progress
During the initial examination, tenderness was found primarily below the ankle bone in the right ankle. Treatment involved acupuncture on points around the ankle and below the knee to alleviate the pain. After the first treatment, the frequency of pain decreased, and pain during movement also lessened. Subsequent treatments were performed in the same manner. After the third treatment, pain still occurred on some days, but the severity of the pain was reduced. Acupuncture was also performed on tense areas of the lower back. Subsequently, it was confirmed that the symptoms had subsided.

Summary
Acupuncture treatment on points around the knee was effective in treating the pain in the right ankle. With repeated treatments, the frequency and severity of the pain decreased, and the patient was able to participate in practice again. In the future, for similar cases, we plan to continue acupuncture treatment on the painful area and related areas.
