Last month, I suddenly experienced a tingling, nerve-like pain in the back of my head, temples, and around my eyes, and when I went to the hospital, I was diagnosed with shingles. The medication has helped to alleviate the symptoms, but I still have a persistent feeling that there are "two or three membranes stuck to my head." Most importantly, I suffer from severe headaches that last about 90 seconds, 7-8 times a day at irregular intervals, which makes it difficult to concentrate on my work, forcing me to pull over to the side of the road while driving.
During this time, the patient visited an ophthalmologist twice to confirm that the eye condition was not due to shingles before coming to our clinic.

Treatment and progress

Specific tension was observed in the back of the head, and there was significant stiffness in the back of the neck, so the treatment was structured to release tension in these areas.
Acupuncture was performed on acupoints in the sacrum, lumbar region, and calves. As a result, the patient's previously cold toes warmed up. Next, acupuncture was performed on acupoints in the back related to tension in the back of the head. Finally, acupoints in the legs were used to relieve neck stiffness. The patient reported that their vision had become clearer.

After the second session, the patient reported that "the frequency and severity of severe headaches have decreased since the treatment, and yesterday there were none at all." The same treatment approach as the previous session was used to address the discomfort in the head. The treatment resulted in significant improvement.

On the third visit, the patient stated that "the area around the eyes is more bothersome than the head." Deep neck stiffness was found, and using corresponding acupuncture points in the lower back improved the condition. Coldness in the buttocks was also addressed.

On the fourth visit, the patient reported, "I'm able to live without any problems." Judging the progress to be good, we asked them to continue monitoring the situation.

Summary

I focused on relieving stiffness in the back of the head and neck during the treatment. Upon examining the entire body, I noticed coldness in the feet and buttocks, so I also considered ways to promote blood flow to those areas. The symptoms were mainly in the face, but the coldness in the buttocks and feet indicated an imbalance in the body's thermal system, which allowed me to quickly alleviate the symptoms.
