Neck pain that worsens with activity
symptom
For about three months, the client had been experiencing neck pain whenever they engaged in activities slightly more strenuous than their normal daily routine, such as gardening or home exercises. They felt a particularly strong stiffness at the base of their neck, and the pain seemed to radiate from this area when stressed. Because it was becoming difficult to move their neck smoothly, they contacted us hoping for a quick solution.

Treatment and progress
Upon examining the neck for stiffness, the symptoms were triggered during left rotation and left lateral flexion. Investigating the connection to this stiffness, strong tension was found on the medial border of the scapula, so acupuncture was performed in that area. Next, significant tension was observed in the upper shoulder, so this was addressed using acupuncture points on the back. Finally, using acupuncture points on the buttocks restored movement, and the stiffness disappeared.

Summary
The key to this case was recognizing the interconnectedness between the neck and shoulder blades. Instead of simply applying acupuncture to the stiffness, we considered its relationship to the other areas and performed the treatment accordingly, which resulted in a change in movement and the disappearance of the symptoms.
