I wake up with shoulder pain
symptom
For the past few weeks, the patient had been waking up in the middle of the night with shoulder pain. Worried, he went to an orthopedic surgeon five days ago and was diagnosed with adhesive capsulitis. Although he did not experience any problems with shoulder movement during the day, he was concerned that the condition would worsen if he continued to live like this, so he was referred to our hospital.

Treatment and progress
When examining shoulder movement, internal and external rotation was restricted, and the pain was reproduced when the patient was placed in a lateral position with the affected side facing down.
First, I performed acupuncture on the acupressure points on the hip joint to align the axis. Next, I considered the twisting of the thoracic vertebrae and performed acupuncture on the acupressure points on the back.
The only remaining stiffness was the posterior stiffness during external rotation. By adding pressure points on the thoracic spine and back, the restriction on internal and external rotation disappeared. The patient was also able to lie on his side with the affected side facing down, so the treatment was completed.
A few days later, he was informed that his symptoms had disappeared.

Summary
This case appears to be early adhesive capsulitis, and because the patient was able to lift, focusing on rotational movement led to significant improvement in just one session. As shown in this case, twisting of the thoracic spine is directly linked to shoulder joint movement, so I think this is an important point.
