Acupuncture case: "I can't walk fast after spraining my ankle" (Higashimuroran Station)

Two months ago, the patient sprained his ankle and has been unable to walk fast ever since. When walking fast, the area around the ankle, including the sole of the foot, becomes stiff, causing pain and difficulty in movement. When examining the movement, we found that the ankle had limited plantar flexion and that the sole of the foot hurt when lifting the second toe. The patient was referred by the patient's daughter.

Treatment and progress

First, we started with the limited plantar flexion of the ankle, which was an aftereffect of an ankle sprain. By using acupressure points around the knee, plantar flexion became possible with equality between the left and right sides. Next, we performed acupuncture on the acupressure points in the calf, which had a lot of tension. The patient said that she felt like her feet were on the ground, and the pain during movement also improved. Finally, we finished by using acupressure points on the arm to release the tension in the calf.

The next day, the family went on a three-day, two-night trip, and he was able to walk the whole way! That's what his daughter told him during the treatment.

Summary

Ankle sprains often leave residual aftereffects. In this case, treatment for the sprain improved the ankle's mobility, and the remaining tension in the calf was relieved, improving the pain.
