Trigger finger caused by years of overwork

symptom

Acupuncture and moxibustion case: "Trigger finger caused by years of overworked caregiving" (Asakita Ward and Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima City)

As a result of caring for my mother, the movement of my right middle finger has gradually deteriorated over the past four or five years, and now when I clench my hand, the finger stiffens and I cannot straighten it.

As a result, he has to use his other hand to stretch his fingers, which is causing problems in his daily life.
Also, for the past six months, when I clench my right hand, I have been experiencing pain in the second joint of my little finger, and the hospital has told me, "It's just aging, and there's nothing you can do about it. Once your finger bends and stiffens, the pain will go away."
He came to our clinic hoping to be able to clench and open his hands, even if it was slowly.

Treatment and progress

It was thought that repeated years of nursing care, such as helping the patient get up from the bed or transfer from the bed to a wheelchair, had caused severe stiffness to form from the fingertips to the back, which was the cause of the patient's difficulty moving his fingers.

Therefore, we adjusted the movement from the back to the fingers by removing stiffness at the base of the spine and the inner edges of the shoulder blades.

After the first treatment, the movement of my middle finger recovered by about 40% and the pain in my little finger was reduced by half.

The same treatment was continued every three days, and the pain in the little finger improved after the third treatment, and the pain in the middle finger was almost completely resolved after the fifth treatment.

The treatment was discontinued as it no longer interfered with daily life.

Six months later, the symptoms have not returned.

Summary

It is believed that the problem was not simply with the muscles and tendons that move the fingers, but rather that problems with finger movement were caused by strain on the arms and back, which form the foundation for finger movement, due to long-term care.

Therefore, by performing treatment on the spine and the inner edge of the shoulder blades, finger movement improved.
