Pain from ankle sprain

Pain from ankle sprain

symptom

Acupuncture case: "Pain due to ankle sprain" (Higashimuroran Station)

A week ago, I sprained my ankle on the outside while playing basketball for a club activity. By the evening of that day, swelling had appeared and pain had also developed. The next day, I went to an orthopedic clinic and was diagnosed with a "second-degree injury." The orthopedic clinic recommended rest as the most important thing and gave me a support that went all the way down to my lower leg. I went to a nearby osteopathic clinic but there was no improvement, so I contacted them.

Treatment and progress

After examining the condition of the spine and affected area, I confirmed that the inflammation had not been completely eliminated and that there was excessive tension in the fibula, and began treatment.

In the first session, acupuncture was administered to the spine and little finger, which are related to the body's inflammatory response. Additionally, acupuncture was administered to the hypertension in the fibula, which improved the movement of the ankle.
Three days after the second session, there was a big improvement, with him saying, "I was able to play the practice match as normal, and it was scary how well I could move. Can I bring my supporters back now?"
After the third treatment, he said, "I can still play even with the supporter on. My ankle feels great." He has a practice match this weekend and his last high school athletics tournament at the end of the month, so we decided to provide him with treatment once a week as maintenance until then.

The above treatment was performed a total of five times, and the patient was able to participate in club activities without missing a single day, right up to the final tournament.

Summary

"I don't want to take time off club activities because if I do, someone else will take my position," was what the patient said during the initial consultation. The techniques we provide at our clinic are based on the idea that pain comes from being unable to move, so the main theme is how to make movement possible. The key point in this case was hypertonicity of the fibula. By focusing on this, I believe movement was regulated and the pain was significantly improved.
